Hepatits B Virus Diagnostic Profile

HBsAg (Hepatitis B Surface Antigen) – Detects the presence of the hepatitis B virus (HBV), identifies both acute and chronic infections, and helps determine the stage of infection and need for treatment or preventive action.

HBsAb (Hepatitis B Surface Antibody) – Determines if an individual has developed immunity to the hepatitis B virus, either through vaccination or past infection.

HBeAg (Hepatitis B Envelope Antigen) – Aids in diagnosing active Hepatitis B infection and assessing the patient’s risk of transmitting the virus to others.

HBeAb (Hepatitis B Envelope Antibody) – Indicates a reduced level of infectivity and suggests recovery or a controlled stage of Hepatitis B infection.

HBcAb Total (Hepatitis B Core Antibody Total) – Detects past or ongoing infection with hepatitis B virus, regardless of the stage.

HBcAb IgM (Hepatitis B Core Antibody IgM) – Identifies acute or recent Hepatitis B infection and assists in differentiating new from chronic infections.
